All the items in this shop are totally original, one of a kind creations, hand made by me. I collect fallen branches from the forest. I saw the wood and sand it down to make signs. I use pyrography to create my original designs. Pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials with burn marks. It is also known as pokerwork or wood burning. Pyrography means "writing with fire", from the Greek pur (fire) and graphos (writing). I use a specialized pyrography machine to achieve fine detail and precision. A large range of tones and shades can be achieved. After the design is burned in, the wood can be coloured and/or varnished. I usually use light-coloured hardwoods such as sycamore, basswood, beech or birch. If you would like a custom design, please contact me. I make these all myself in my arts and crafts room, in a little house with no pets or smoke. I put all my love and care into creating something special for you. I can create any design you would like. I don't do this full time, as I don't make a lot of money, but I have a day job to keep me going. I spend my evenings and days off sat in my art room, or wandering around the forest looking for some lovely pieces of wood for you.The wood is well seasoned as it needs to be very dry for pyrography. This means that the wood becomes very hard and durable. If you like the glossy look then I can add a layer of varnish to the wood, just let me know if that's what you'd prefer.
